Across five days, a group of young artists aged 9–15 will work alongside UNDERARTS and Golden Scissor Puppets to imagine, devise and create an entirely original performance.
Inspired by the strange creatures, spirit worlds and living landscapes of Studio Ghibli, participants will explore puppet-making, shadow puppetry, movement, storytelling, sound design and visual theatre as they build a world of their own.
Working collaboratively, they will invent creatures, construct puppets, imagine extraordinary environments and discover how to bring their ideas to life through performance.
The final performance brings these creations together in the professional theatre at Collarts, offering audiences a chance to step inside the world these young artists have imagined.
Expect handmade puppets, strange creatures, original soundscapes, unexpected transformations and the wonderful possibilities of young people's imaginations.
At its heart, Strange Creatures celebrates young people as artists and creators, giving them the opportunity to develop and share their own original work with an audience.

Strange Creatures is a family-friendly performance suitable for audiences of all ages.
Families, friends, children, young people, puppetry enthusiasts and anyone curious about the imaginative worlds young artists can create are warmly invited to attend.
